Shoulder injuries may result from a traumatic event such as a dislocation or subluxation, or from overuse or degeneration such as many rotator cuff problems. An accurate diagnosis will be made by your physiotherapist or they will arrange referral for appropriate investigations such as ultrasound or MRI.
Joint mobilisation of not only the shoulder joint but also the Thoracic spine may be necessary to address stiffness, as well as massage to address tight structures. Nearly always, specific strengthening will be necessary for a successful outcome and your physiotherapist is highly trained to provide a graduated exercise program and referral onto our Exercise Physiologists when appropriate.
We work closely with both local and Sydney based Orthopaedic Surgeons who specialise in shoulder injuries, and our team has extensive experience in post-operative shoulder rehabilitation.
