After working for 35 years within the Sports Medicine world Denny can lay title to being one of the most senior and experienced Sports Medicine Physiotherapists in the country. He doesn't think that age is a barrier within the industry and believes as long as a person still has a love for what they do and remains relevant with continuing education there is an important role for them to play. While continuing to be a hands on clinician Denny feels he also has a lot to offer in a mentoring role.
Graduating from Sydney University in 1981 with a bachelor degree in Applied Science majoring in Physiotherapy, Denny assumed the role of Physiotherapist to the South Sydney rugby league team. Moving to the Central Coast the following year Denny became one of the founders of Hills Street Sports Medicine Centre in Gosford.

Peter graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in anatomy which was followed with a Post Graduate degree in Physiotherapy from Sydney University in 1981.
In 1982-1983 Peter completed his internship at Gosford District Hospital. It was here that he met his future business partner co-founder of Hills Street Sports Medicine Centre, Denny Shearwood. In 1984 Peter and Denny commenced private practice and are proud to have celebrated in 30 years of serving on the central coast in 2014.
In 1990 Peter was among the first group of physiotherapists in Australia to be awarded the prestigious Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports Physiotherapy title.
Peter has completed numerous training programmes and conferences in sports and spinal physiotherapy both in Australia and internationally.
This has included travels to Vienna Austria, Singapore, The University of Florida and The University of California in the United States of America. [Continue]
Josh graduated from a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Newcastle in 2013. Josh then went on to complete a Master’s of Physiotherapy degree at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2015. Josh is also a qualified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor with years of experience in Pilates Instructing, both mat and reformer. [Continue]
Liana Burrows graduated from Lindenwood University in St Charles, Missouri with a Bachelor degree in Athletic Training in 2007. Whilst at Lindenwood University, Liana acted as a Student Athletic Trainer for the National Champion Track and Field Team, Women's Field hockey, Women's Tennis and American Football and Wrestling teams. Whilst completing her degree she participated on the College Tennis Team and assisted coaching the Women's Tennis team to nationals in Mobile Alabama for the first time in the school's history. Natalie Gale graduated from the UNSW with a 4 year degree - BSc (Health & Sports Science). She is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with more than 10 years of musculoskeletal rehabilitation and chronic disease management experience. She has a special interest in rehabilitation, helping people make positive health & lifestyle changes and lower limb injury management.
Natalie has completed both Mat and Reformer Pilates courses. Natalie has a keen interest in sports, having played Grade Netball and Soccer. Following a serious knee injury she took up cycling and is now an enthusiastic Road Cyclist.
Todd Balneaves is a local from St Hubert's Island on the Central Coast. He joined the team at the start of 2016 taking on the role of a Physiotherapist Assistant/Aide. Todd graduated from St Edwards College in 2014, and is currently studying Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. He is currently in his second year of study and has taken a keen interest in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and sports related injuries, an area in which he hopes to go into once he graduates. Brigitte is a new team member joining the practice in May 2016 who moved to the Central Coast 2 years ago from Sydney. She is a former patient who became fond of the staff and the culture of the clinic during her appointments.
Brigitte comes from a dental background of 27 years. She started as a dental assistant and receptionist in general dentistry, worked as a temp and then moved onto working with specialists in oral surgeons and orthodontics. [Continue]
Danielle is an important member of the Hills Street team. A bright and smiling face on the phone, desk and on the physio floor, Danielle is always willing to help. Danielle is a former long distance swimming champion and can empathise with your body pains and strains. With a great sense of humour and relaxed approach, Danielle has a passion for all things fitness.
Keryn joined the team at Hills Street Sports Medicine Centre in August, 2005 and is employed on our reception desk.
Prior to joining our team, Keryn had worked as a Legal Secretary and as Secretary to the City Engineer in Local Government, before pausing to raise her two children. Before re-entering the workforce, Keryn returned to study, achieving her Certificate in Word Processing with Distinction and was then employed as Secretary/Receptionist to a Financial Planner. Jenna has been working at Hills Street Sports Medicine Centre for 2 years as a receptionist and a physio aide. She has a strong interest in the health sector and thoroughly enjoys working to help people.
Jenna has a degree in Biological Sciences and is about to start another degree in Medical Radiation Sciences studying Diagnostic Radiography.
She is a very social person who enjoys live music, travelling, meeting new people and of course being at the beach. She has recently been attending our gym on a regular basis with her increased interest in health and fitness. Jenna also enjoys watching the tennis and the surfing and attempting to do both!
Kath Payn has been employed with hillsstreet for a period of 17 years. Kath has vast experience in payroll, awards and government required reporting. Her experience in this field covers a period of over 40 years
